Minsk born photographer Masha Matveyeva moved to the United States after first years of college and eventually found her love for photography. Her work itself is a deliberate paradox – darkness and humor, desire and restraint – portraying of a world beyond our gaze that is recognizable, yet entirely dictated by its own rules and realities. The story furthermore, does not begin or end within a photograph, but seems to continue on it's own without you.  Possessing an uncanny ability to disarm both subjects and viewers alike with her alluringly powerful shots, she mainly seeks to capture the beautiful contradictions of people and human experiences.
